Two Dead, Hume Highway Closed, Following Truck Collision – Woomargama
Two people have died following a collision between two trucks on the Hume Highway in the State’s Riverina district today.
About 1.15 am (Friday 15 January), two prime-movers collided on the highway, one kilometre south of the town of Woomargama (pron. Woo-mar-ga-ma).
Both drivers of the trucks died at the scene.
One of the deceased is male and the gender of the second driver is unknown at this stage.
The Hume Highway is closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed until at least mid-afternoon today.
Northbound traffic is diverted on the Olympic Highway via Wagga and Southbound traffic at Holbrook to Culcairn and then the Olympic Highway.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue and Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
