Moves to have Low-Risk Prisoners and Community Service Workers help in the flood clean up have been welcomed by the State Opposition.
“On Sunday I called on the Labor Government to provide a clear plan of how prisoner work camps could aid in the recovery of Queensland’s flood affected communities.” Shadow Minister for Corrective Services Jarrod Bleijie said.
“This show of cooperation from the Government is important in the move to rebuild our state.” Mr. Bleijie said.
“Toowoomba is still reeling from the devastating floods and the additional support from prisoners is an important step in the area’s recovery.”
“Many other Queensland Towns are in the same boat as Toowoomba and I hope the Government has a plan to expand the prisoner work camps and community service workers into those communities as well.” Mr. Bleijie said.
