Chief Minister Terry Mills tonight named Wugularr (Beswick) as the Territory’s Tidiest Town in 2012.

Chief Minister Mills congratulated all those who participated and wished the town, which is east of Katherine, good luck in the national final.

“Tidy Towns is a community development model that works.” Chief Minister Mills said.

“For decades it has motivated, inspired and generated a sense of pride in towns, communities and outstations right across the Northern Territory.”

“Tidy Towns has spawned the ultimate ‘working bee’, one that lasts almost the whole year.” Chief Minister Mills said.

“Stores, health centres, councils, child care centres, schools, business and residents have worked together for a common goal.”

“On the surface, the results can be seen in a cleaner, better environment, completion of nominated projects and children growing up in a healthier environment.”

“Tidy Towns is an important initiative and my Government will ensure it is fully supported, further expanded and allowed to continue for years to come.” Chief Minister Mills said.
