A Victorian Liberal Nationals Coalition Government will commit $15 Million toward Major Education Projects in Central Victoria, Shadow Minister for Regional and Rural Development and Leader of The Nationals Peter Ryan announced today.
Announcing the funding at Castlemaine Secondary College, Mr. Ryan said the Coalition was delivering much-needed facilities for the benefit of students, staff and the wider community.
“A Coalition Government will commit $7 Million toward the Castlemaine Secondary College’s new amalgamated campus and $8 Million to upgrade Bendigo Senior Secondary College.” Mr. Ryan said.
“This is in addition to our $2 Million investment in Eaglehawk Primary School, which is currently under threat by Premier John Brumby and Labor, to guarantee its immediate future.”
“By investing in the future education needs of local children the Coalition will fix the problems and build for the future of Central Victorian students.”
Mr. Ryan said the Coalition was particularly proud of its plan for an amalgamated and upgraded Castlemaine Secondary College.
“A Coalition Government will work with the school community to determine the best location for the new Castlemaine Secondary College.” Mr. Ryan said.
Shadow Minister for Education Martin Dixon said the Coalition would also hand back the design, planning and management of building projects to the school community.
“The principal and school councils will be given greater ownership of the projects that will ultimately benefit them.” Mr. Dixon said.
“Waste and mismanagement in education projects has ballooned since local expertise and oversight of new school buildings was centralised in Melbourne under the Brumby Government.”
Mr. Dixon said the Coalition had also announced new money for Welfare Officers in primary schools and extra maths and science teachers for Central Victoria secondary schools under a Baillieu Government.
