Andrews Government is building a new operating theatre at Ararat Hospital to give patients the world-class care they need, closer to home.

Minister for Health Jill Hennessy today announced the $2.93 Million project, made possible by the State Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund.

“We’re building an extra operating theatre at Ararat Hospital to ensure doctors can perform more surgeries and more patients can get the treatment they need.” Minister for Health Jill Hennessy said.

“All Victorians deserve the highest standards of health care, no matter where they live. We’re investing millions of dollars all over regional and rural Victoria to ensure that’s exactly what regional Victorians get.”

This project will mean Ararat Hospital will become home to a second operating theatre so that doctors can perform more surgeries, as well as more day procedure beds and post-anaesthetic care unit beds.

9 jobs will be created during construction and is expected to be complete by 2020.

Latest cash injection for health in Ararat comes on top of the $4.1 Million ‘one stop shop’ for community health services being delivered for Ararat.

Andrews Government’s $250 Million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund is the largest of its kind in Victorian history. It’s giving doctors and nurses in regional and rural areas the very best facilities they need to do what they do best provide world-class care when Victorians need it most.

State Government is giving health services all over the state record funding so that they can provide that care. At East Grampians Health Service, the Andrews Government is investing $21.81 Million in 2018/19 which is a 4.9 % increase above the previous 12 months.
