Health Minister Kim Hames today announced the appointment of Kim Snowball as Director General of the Department of Health for a term of Five years.

The recruitment process for the role included an international search, begun in January and culminating in an independent selection process conducted by the Commissioner for Public Sector Standards.

Mr. Snowball has been acting in the position since January and his background includes a wealth of experience, particularly in regional Western Australia.




“I am very pleased to have Kim Snowball as the chief executive of the State’s Health System.” Dr. Hames said.

“Mr. Snowball has shown a commitment to providing the best possible health service to all West Australians, and his experience overseeing our Regional Health Services gives him a deep understanding of the complexities of delivering Health Care in WA.”

Mr. Snowball was previously Chief Executive of the WA Country Health Service from September 2007 to January 2010.

His previous appointments include five years with St. John of God Healthcare and numerous senior executive positions in WA Health Services.

Mr. Snowball has also represented WA in a variety of national forums on health issues in the past 10 years.

The Minister said he was looking forward to continuing to work with Mr Snowball to deliver Health Care across WA.
