Premier Daniel Andrews is continuing his attack on all fire services, this time by blocking fire equipment inspectors from being able to carry out checks, instead mandating plumbers undertake routine maintenance inspections.

An elected Liberal/Nationals Coalition government will ensure the fire inspection industry is protected, by continuing to allow qualified inspectors to test and carrying out routine maintenance on fire safety equipment in our hospitals, schools and commercial buildings.

“Daniel Andrews has literally forced 2,000 Victorians out of work and put our community’s safety at risk.” Shadow Minister for Emergency Services Brad Battin said.

“Liberal/Nationals Coalition will get control back to the industry so they can continue to carry out these vital safety checks.”

Premier Daniel Andrews has lost control of cost of living and is instead placing added pressure to hospitals and schools’ already stretched budgets.

On November 18, when Premier Daniel Andrews’ policy comes into effect, 2,000 workers will not be able to legally do their job of ensuring your safety.

A Liberal/Nationals Coalition Government will get back in control of cost of living by restoring the previous position of allowing fire systems to be checked by suitably qualified inspectors. Any change to the future regulation will only be supported after a review to plumbing regulations with community safety as a priority.

Premier Daniel Andrews has clearly lost control of the industry and our community’s safety. He made these recommendations without community and industry consultation.

A Liberal/Nationals Coalition Government understands the consequences of this amendment and respects the vital work these inspectors do. The Liberal/Nationals Coalition will get control back to the industry so they can carry out these vital safety checks.

Victoria State Election will be held on 24 November 2018.
