Alex Sangston To Lead Screen Tasmania

The Tasmanian Government is pleased to announce Mr. Alex Sangston as the new Executive Manager of Screen Tasmania, Minister for the Arts Vanessa Goodwin said.

Originally from Tasmania, Mr. Sangston will return to the state from Canberra where he held the role of Senior Manager of the Producer Offset and Co-Production Unit at Screen Australia.

He has extensive national experience in film funding and screen industry policy, having previously worked for Film Finance Corporation and at the Australian Government’s Arts and Communications Departments.

“Mr. Sangston’s familiarity with the industry will allow him to strengthen the sector in order to grow jobs and investment in Tasmania’s cultural economy.” Ms. Goodwin said.

Tasmania is recognised for our cultural and creative industries, of which our screen industry is an important part after experiencing strong growth in recent years.

Major productions including The Light Between Oceans, The Kettering Incident, The Hunter, and Lion filming in Tasmania in recent years, and in 2016 the ABC TV comedy series Rosehaven, created by comedians Luke McGregor and Celia Pacquola, will be filmed entirely in Tasmania.

“I would like to thank Andrew McPhail who has been in an acting role.” Ms. Goodwin said.

Mr. Sangston will commence in the role on February 23, 2016.
