Cricket fans are in for an action packed summer of cricket with the Vodafone Third Test Match between Australia and India starting this week.
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said this would be the fourth time that Australia and India had played a test in Perth.
“With Australia winning both the first and second test matches, this match could decide the series.” Dr. Hames said.
“In addition, it may also be the last time Western Australian cricket fans will see one of the sport’s greatest batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar, play a test match at the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) ground.”
The State Government, though Eventscorp, proudly supports international cricket at the WACA.
The Minister said Eventscorp and the WACA aimed to secure the very best international cricket matches for Perth.
“Following last season’s successful Cricket City Perth Festival, the WACA and Eventscorp have developed an exciting schedule of events for West Australians and visitors to enjoy.” Dr. Hames said.
“This includes the KFC T20 Big Bash League featuring the Perth Scorchers, the Third Test and the Commonwealth Bank Series One-Day Internationals in February.”
“The One-Day Internationals will feature a match between World Cup finalists India and Sri Lanka as well as a second contest between Australia and Sri Lanka.”
