SA Civil Construction Businesses Seeking Work Elsewhere

Up to 75 % of South Australian civil construction businesses are seeking work in other states to survive, according to the Civil Contractors Federation (SA Branch) today.

The Civil Contractors Federation warned that this put hundreds, possibly thousands, of jobs in the industry at risk.

“After 11 years of this Labor Government, South Australian businesses are doing it tough.” Shadow Treasurer Iain Evans said.

“South Australia has the highest taxes in the nation, the most expensive Workcover scheme in the nation and new Workplace safety laws adding extra red tape.”

“Premier Weatherill must explain why this is the case after 11 years of a Labor Government in SA.” Mr. Evans said.

“Our State has a debt bill approaching $14 Billion and a $1.2 Billion deficit this year thanks to Labor’s reckless spending and financial mismanagement.”

“This is clearly hurting businesses, hurting employment and hurting families.”

“South Australians deserve a government with better priorities to get our state back on track.” Mr. Evans said.
