Seven Charged After Brawl – Shalvey

Seven people have been charged after a public order incident in Sydney’s West overnight.

About 6.30 pm yesterday (27 December) Police were patrolling Piccolo Way, Shalvey, when they came across a fight between two men.

Police stopped and attempted to break up the fight, at which stage the two males and six other persons allegedly turned on Police.

A male Constable was kicked in the head by a 24-year-old woman while he was lying on the ground.

Further Police attended to assist and they were also threatened, intimidated and hindered whilst attempting to quell the incident.

It is also alleged a 19-year-old male escaped lawful custody after being handcuffed but was re-captured a short time later after attempting to hide under a house.

Seven people were arrested and taken to Mt. Druitt Police Station where they were charged with a number of offences, including affray, intimidate Police and assault Police.

A 19-year-old Tregear man, a 21-year-old Campsie man and a 27-year-old Shalvey man were refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today.
