Queensland Premier Campbell Newman will kick off the ANZAC Day Commemoration Committee (ADCC) of Queensland’s 2012 appeal this morning with a $15,000 donation from the State Government.

Premier Newman has been appointed the Chairman of the ADCC which was established in 1916.

Premier Newman will be given a tour of a First World War trench warfare replica set up in the Executive Building by ADCC Colonel (Ret’d) Arthur Burke OAM, display coordinator Captain Adele Catts and Queensland Remembers manager Lyn Harding.

“I urge Queenslanders to get behind the ADCC to continue its patriotic work promoting the spirit of ANZAC.” Premier Newman said.

“This display gives us just a glimpse into the conditions World War One diggers had to endure from 1914 to 1918 and brings home to us all the tragedy and the suffering our troops endured in the war that was supposed to end all wars.”

The Premier will hand over a cheque for $15,000 to the ADCC after the tour of the display on the ground floor of the Executive Building, George St, Brisbane at 9.30 am, Monday April 16, 2012.
