New South Wales Liberals & Nationals Government is on track to deliver record Police numbers on the beat, following the attestation of 199 probationary constables today.

Minister for Police Troy Grant joined New South Wales Police Commissioner Michael Fuller APM for the attestation parade in Goulburn this morning, where Class 332 took their oath of office.

Minister Grant said Class 332 brings the number of sworn officers to pass through the Goulburn Police Academy since 2011 to 4,362.

“New South Wales Liberals & Nationals Government is committed to putting more Police back on our streets, and will boost authorised strength to 16,795 over this term.” Minister Grant said.

“Through the re-engineering process, Commissioner Fuller has undertaken to increase frontline Police numbers across the state.”

“As a community, we ask a lot of our Police. We expect them to stand in harm’s way to prevent and disrupt criminal activity.”

“Becoming a sworn Police officer is a tremendous honour. The mere presence of a blue uniform puts our minds at ease. However, it also comes with enormous responsibility.” Minister Grant said.

“Today gives us an opportunity to acknowledge the extraordinary commitment and dedication of the men and women who have chosen a career in law enforcement.”

“It is an admirable and honourable profession, and we owe each and every new recruit an enormous debt of gratitude for devoting their working lives to the safety of the people of New South Wales.”

“I am especially heartened by the fact that the New South Wales Police family will be there to encourage and support our newest recruits as they embark on the next stage of their careers.” Minister Grant said.

New probationary constables will be placed across New South Wales, where they will spend a year under the supervision of experienced officers gaining valuable on-the-job experience.
