5 Goals In The 1st Quarter

Richmond’s win over West Coast Eagles was not only their second win from the last three rounds but also heralded the emergence of a star in the making.

Jack Riewoldt booted 10 goals in a 49 point demolition of West Coast. He kicked 5 goals in the first quarter and with three minutes to go in the final quarter kicked his tenth goal from a tight angle.

Jack Riewoldt, cousin of Nick Riewoldt was recruited by Richmond from Clarence, Tasmania as a first round selection in the 2006 draft and polled 3 votes in the 2009 Brownlow Medal Count.

The last time a Richmond player kicked 10 goals in a game was by Matthew Richardson in Round 8 2004 against the Western Bulldogs.

The last time an AFL player kicked 10 goals in a game was by Brisbane Lions Jonathan Brown in Round 16 2007 against Carlton.

Stars do not come along every day so these achievements should be acknowledged.

Jack Riewoldt congratulations well done and good luck with your career.
