Youths Arrested Over Damage To Pennant Hills High School

About 2.15 am on Saturday 23rd October 2010, Police from Eastwood responded to calls of smashing sounds coming from within Pennant Hills High School, Laurence Street, Pennant Hills.

Upon arrival at the scene Police detained two 17 year old males from Beecroft and a 14 year old male from West Pennant Hills who were seen walking along Boundary Road. One of the males was seen to have some cuts to a finger whilst another male had glass particles over his jumper.

An inspection of the Pennant Hills High School buildings revealed that approximately 75 windows with a value of $30,000 had been smashed. Inquiries revealed that the youths may have been on the school grounds for up to 45 minutes where they have used a garbage bin and hammer to smash the windows.

The three males were taken to Hornsby Police Station and support persons were arranged to attend. The three males then took part in formal interviews with Police. The males will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

Police are still seeking a fourth male person who may be able to assist them with their inquiries.
