Saturday 28 March 2015 New South Wales Election

Victor P Taffa has a 5 Point Plan For Sydney at the 28 March 2015 New South Wales Election and Point 1 is 24 Hour Trains for the Sydney Metro Area, Maitland, Mount Victoria, Newcastle and Wollongong.

This plan has been submitted to the New South Wales Transport and Planning Departments.

Restoration of 24 Hour Trains can be economically justified by the introduction of Restaurant/Lounge Carriages on every train in New South Wales through leasing contracts and associated promotion of Restaurant/Lounge Carriages.

Sydney used to have 24 Hour Train Operation. 24 Hour Trains is a more cost effective service than existing Night Rider Buses and provides night shift workers with a reliable means of getting to or from work. 4 Car plus Restaurant/Lounge Carriage Trains would operate in the Sydney Metro Area, Maitland, Mount Victoria, Newcastle and Wollongong.

The Night Rider Bus System would be either scrapped or re-organised to include cross-country Olympic Park style Bus Routes. 24 Hour Trains are very safe for passengers with a Train Driver and Guard and a CCTV Camera network able to monitor passenger safety.

Trackwork Operations would continue unaffected as the entire Rail Network does not shutdown for Trackwork. Trackwork affects only certain Lines at the one time.

Trains operate on New Year’s Eve on a 24 Hour Schedule. Kings Cross Railway Station is left idle when 1.30am lock outs are in operation. Bus to Night Rider Buses is simply an inadequate transport solution. Victor has lodged a Submission with Sydney City Council calling for the restoration of the 19 Cab Rank on Darlinghurst Road, opposite Kings Cross Railway Station.

Late night commuters after a night out with friends or shift workers on the way to or from work and a Restaurant/Lounge Carriage fills that need.

People on the way home invariably are thirsty or hungry and a Restaurant/Lounge Carriage fills that need.

Staff will be on hand to ensure that all non alcoholic beverages and food items purchased can only be consumed in the Restaurant/Lounge Carriages. Seating and Tables will be available to consume purchases made.

This idea will provide a financial return for the Railways in the same way that outdoor advertising does and enables an expansion and upgrade of the Railways which then says to the New South Wales Treasury that Railways are not a financial drain to the taxpayer.
