The Victorian State Election will be held on Saturday, 27 November 2010. All enrolled Australian citizens over the age of 18 and residing in Victoria are expected to vote at their local voting centre between the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm. Voting is compulsory.

 

 

Enrolment is compulsory so it’s important to get on the roll when you turn 18 or become an Australian citizen.

You have until 8.00 pm on Tuesday, 9 November to be included on the roll for the State election.

What are the key dates/times for the election?

  • Issue of the writ 2 November (Melbourne Cup Day)
  • Close of rolls 8.00 pm Tuesday, 9 November
  • Close of nominations (parties) 12 Noon Thursday, 11 November
  • Close of group registration (Upper House) 12 Noon Thursday, 11 November
  • Close of nominations (independents) 12 Noon Friday, 12 November
  • Final lodgement of Group voting tickets 12 Noon Sunday, 14 November
  • Early voting commences 8.30 am Monday, 15 November
  • First day for submission of how to vote cards Monday, 15 November
  • Last day for submission of how to vote cards 12 Noon Friday, 19 November
  • Close of postal voting 6.00 pm Thursday, 25 November
  • Early voting closes 6.00 pm Friday, 26 November
  • Election Day 8.00 am to 6.00 pm Saturday, 27 November
