Armed robbers target Woolwich restaurant
Gladesville Police are investigating the armed robbery of a restaurant at Woolwich overnight.
Four staff members and three patrons were in the Woolwich Road restaurant shortly after midnight, when they were confronted by two men, one armed with a gun the other with a crowbar.
The men took cash from the till and left the scene in a dark blue sedan.
The victims were shaken but uninjured by the incident.
A crime scene was established and canvass of the area conducted.
Police have descriptions of two men they believe can assist with inquiries. They were described as being of white/European appearance, with a slim build, and between 170cm and 185cm tall. At the time they were wearing dark clothing.
Anyone who may have seen two men acting suspiciously in the vicinity of Woolwich Road before midnight, or has information about the robbery, is asked to contact Gladesville Police on 02 9879 9699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police charge youth over stolen car – Brookvale
A teenager will appear at children’s court today after police detected him driving an alleged stolen car at Harbord yesterday.
About 4.30pm detectives attached to the Northern Beaches Local Area Command were patrolling in the Brookvale industrial area.
Police followed two people in a Daihatsu sedan – which had been reported stolen – for several minutes and with the assistance of other officers stopped the vehicle in Wyadra Road at Harbord a short time later.
The officers arrested two occupants aged 17 and 26 and took them to Dee Why Police Station regarding the alleged theft of the vehicle from a service station at Mona Vale last week.
A 26-year-old Manly man was later released pending further inquiries while a 17-year-old Manly Vale boy was charged with several offences.
The alleged was refused bail and will face charges of take/drive conveyance, drive conveyance without consent of the owner, and drive unlicensed.
The alleged will appear at Bidura Children’s Court later today.

Man charged over Hurlstone Park sex assault
Detectives from State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad and Ashfield Local Area Command have arrested and charged a man over the sexual assault of a woman at Hurlstone Park last week.
Strike Force Plough was formed to investigate the sexual assault of a woman, aged in her 20s, in her unit about 10.30am Saturday 31 October.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 37-year-old man at his home unit in Endeavour Road, Daceyville, about 10.30pm yesterday.
He was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was spoken to by police before being charged with seven counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count each of aggravated break and enter, armed robbery, and kidnapping.
A search warrant was executed on the man’s home and a number of items have been seized for forensic examination.
The man was refused bail overnight and will appear in Waverley Local Court later today.

Youths charged over Campsie armed robbery
Campsie Police have arrested and charged two youths after a convenience store was allegedly robbed at gunpoint overnight.
Police were called to the store in Gillies Street, Lakemba, shortly before 10pm, responding to reports that the store owner had been threatened and robbed of cash and cigarettes.
Officers stopped three youths in nearby Chalmers Street a short time later, and police will allege a black handgun was found in the possession of one of the youths.
Two 16-year-old males were arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station where they were each charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.
The youth allegedly in possession of the firearm has also been charged with being disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence on an unrelated incident.
The third youth was released without charge.
The youths, both from Lakemba, were refused bail and are due to appear in Parramatta Children’s Court later today.

Appeal for witnesses after woman struck by car– Campbelltown
Crash Investigation Unit Police are seeking witnesses to an incident where a car struck and critically injured a woman at Campbelltown yesterday.
Police have been told a 2003-model black Subaru WRX was being driven south along Queen Street about 3.20pm when it left the road and mounted the footpath near the intersection of Warby Street.
The car hit a building before it struck a 66-year-old woman who was waiting to cross the road.
The woman, from Currans Hill, suffered critical head and internal injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital.
The driver of the WRX, a 51-year-old man from Campbelltown, was treated at Liverpool Hospital for bruising.
Police have spoken with a number of witnesses but are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the incident, or who has information they believe relevant to the investigation.

Child falls from window – Nelson Bay
Police from Port Stephens Local Area Command are investigating how a three-year-old boy fell from a second-story window at Nelson Bay yesterday.
Police have been told that the child was on a kitchen bench at his home in Government Road about 5.15pm, when he fell through an open window 4m-5m onto concrete below.
The child’s mother and older sister were home at the time and called emergency services.
Paramedics treated the boy at the scene for internal injuries before he was airlifted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
The boy remains at hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police established a crime scene at the home and it was examined by forensic experts, however, the incident does not appear suspicious.

Driver charged, car seized over ‘burnout’ – Condell Park
A man had his car seized and licence suspended after being charged over a burnout in Sydney’s south west yesterday.
Shortly before midday police were patrolling Eldridge Road at Condell Park when they saw a blue BMW being driven in a westerly direction.
Near the Edgar Street intersection – which is controlled with a roundabout – police will allege the driver accelerated harshly causing the rear wheels to lose traction with the road.
The vehicle then allegedly turned right around the roundabout and has ‘drifted’ into Eldridge Road before being stopped by police.
Police from Bankstown charged the 26-year-old P2 licence holder with aggravated burnout, suspended his licence, and confiscated the vehicle.
The man, from Greenacre, will appear at the Bankstown Local Court on 3 December 2009.

About 6.30pm on Wednesday 4th November 2009, a 32 year old male victim and his wife from Marsfield were walking their dog in Pioneer Park, Marsfield. At this time a motor vehicle was being driven along a driveway within the park. The victim has then become involved in an argument with the driver regarding the manner in which the vehicle was being driven. This verbal argument led to a physical confrontation between the parties.
A 22 year old male passenger from Marsfield has then got out of the vehicle armed with a baseball bat. He swung the baseball bat at the victim. The victim started to run away chased by the male person. The victim stumbled and fell to the ground and the male struck him in the back with the baseball bat. The male person returned to the car and was confronted by the victim. The male person struck the victim again in the upper arm and back region. The victim managed to overpower the male and remove the baseball bat from his grip before using it to smash the car window.
The victim was transported by ambulance to hospital but was subsequently discharged after being cleared of serious injury by x-rays. Police attended the location and arrested the male person. He was taken to Ryde Police Station and charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was granted bail to appear at Ryde Local Court on the 25th November 2009.

About 8.25pm on Friday 6th November 2009, a male victim was working as a console operator at a service station on Pennant Hills Road, West Pennant Hills. A male person approached the counter and produced a knife. The male person demanded money from the victim.
The victim opened the cash register and handed over a small amount of cash. The male person reached over the counter and placed his hand into the open cash registered before leaving the store on foot. The male person is described as white/European appearance, medium build, 180cm tall, 20-30 years old, wearing a white brim hat, grey striped long sleeve turtle neck jumper, black trousers and black gloves.
Police believe that the same male person may also be responsible for the armed robbery at Cherrybrook.

MALE CHARGED OVER ASSAULT – EPPING
About 2.30am on Saturday 31st October 2009, a 33 year old male victim from Dural was seen standing talking to two other males at a service station in Ray Road, Epping.
Police then saw one of the males punch the victim to his jaw which caused him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness. The male person was then seen to kneel down over the victim and check his trouser pockets. Police stopped at the location where the victim remained unconscious for a further 30 seconds. The victims jaw was swollen and blood was seen coming from his mouth. An ambulance attended the location and treated the victim for his injuries. Police arrested a 20 year old male from Denistone East and took him to Ryde Police Station.
The male person with charged with assault with intent to rob, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault. He was bailed to appear at Ryde Local Court on the 25th November 2009.
