Stable Stewardship Defines Barnett Govt

Premier Colin Barnett Leads Stable Team For March 2017 State Election

Victor P Taffa

According to Western Australia Electoral Commission results from the March 2013 State Election the Barnett Government heads into the March 2017 State Election with a comfortable majority.

However a comfortable majority does not mean complacency with a raft of small parties and opinion polls that has the election in the bag for Labor.

Key Barnett Government Achievements

  • Royalties For Regions
  • Sinking Rail Line into City
  • Elizabeth Quay
  • Perth Stadium
  • Railway Line to Forrestfield underway

Key question to be answered is will Premier-in-waiting Pauline Hanson introduce a Royalties for Regions Plan?

Royalties for Regions has been an outstanding success for the Barnett Government.

Premier Barnett has delivered on the sinking of the Rail Line and opening up of Northbridge.

Elizabeth Quay has opened and that has been an outstanding success despite a minor setback with water issues at the site.

Construction of a new Perth Stadium is well advanced that will see AFL Matches played there in the 2018 Season.

Construction works have also commenced on a new Railway Line to Forrestfield via the Airport with prospects of further extensions.

With relatively few Ministerial changes in 9 years Premier Colin Barnett has led from the front and delivered Stable Stewardship for Western Australia.

Political Retirements

Several members who are retiring from Parliament at the March 2017 State Election include:

  • Bunbury MLA John Castrilli,
  • Dawesville MLA Kim Hames,
  • Kalgoorlie MLA Wendy Duncan,
  • Wagin MLA Terry Waldron.

National Party Leader Brendon Gryllls wondering about Premier-in-Waiting Pauline Hanson’s lack of concern for a Royalties For Regions Plan
