South Australia Unemployment Rate Down To 6.8% April 2016

SA’s Unemployment Rate At 6.8%

South Australia’s headline unemployment rate fell by 0.3 % to 6.8 % in April, according to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Labour Force data.

The national headline unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.7 %.

“Our success in winning these important naval shipbuilding contracts will underpin the transformation of the South Australian economy away from traditional heavy manufacturing to high-tech and high-value manufacturing.” Minister for Employment Kyam Maher said.

 Background

The ABS data shows that 10,400 more South Australians are employed since last year’s State Budget. 814,000 South Australians were in work last month the highest ever monthly employment figure.

The ABS data also shows there has been seven consecutive months of growth in full-time employment in South Australia, with 5,200 more people employed full-time since September.
