Robert Webster Appointed Chief Commissioner Of Compensation Tribunal

An experienced legal practitioner, Robert Webster has been appointed as the new Chief Commissioner of the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Tribunal, Minister for Building and Construction Guy Barnett said.

Chief Commissioner is also appointed ex-officio as Chief Commissioner of the Asbestos Compensation Tribunal (ACT) and concurrently appointed by the Governor-in-Council as Chairman of the Motor Accidents Compensation Tribunal, and by the Minister for Justice as Chairperson of the Health Practitioners Tribunal and Chairperson of the Anti-Discrimination Tribunal.

Mr. Webster has more than 25 years of experience in the Tasmanian legal system, including extensive experience with workers compensation and workplace health and safety claims for both workers and insurers.

He regularly appears in the Supreme Court of Tasmania as well as the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation and Motor Accidents Compensation tribunals.

Mr. Webster succeeds outgoing Chief Commissioner Stephen Carey.
