Rob de Fegely Appointed To Lead Forestry Tasmania

Appointment Of New Chair To Forestry Tasmania

Minister for Forestry Peter Gutwein has announced that Mr. Rob de Fegely will be appointed as the new Chair of Forestry Tasmania.

Mr. de Fegely has 36 years of experience in the Australian forestry industry, Mr. Gutwein said.

Mr. de Fegely is a Co-Chair of the Commonwealth Government’s Forest Industry Advisory Council and National President of the Institute of Foresters of Australia, a past Director of VicForests and was previously the Non-Executive Chairman of Cape York Timber.

Mr. de Fegely is a registered professional forester and has a Bachelor of Science degree from the Australian National University and Master of Science (Forest Business Management) from Aberdeen University in the UK.

In addition, Mr. de Fegely has extensive project and consulting experience with both Government and corporate clients throughout Australia and New Zealand and has travelled and worked extensively throughout Asia and North America.

“This is an exciting appointment for Forestry Tasmania and I am confident that Mr. de Fegely will perform the role to a high standard and bring a contemporary perspective to running a successful forestry business.” Mr. Gutwein said.

Mr. de Fegely was selected by an appointment panel consisting of the interim FT Chair, Dr. Dan Norton, the Treasury Secretary, Tony Ferrall and the State Growth Secretary, Kim Evans.

“On behalf of the Government, I would like to thank the outgoing interim Chair, Dr. Dan Norton, who stepped into the role at short notice and has provided some important insights and stability for the business during a time of transition.” Mr. Gutwein said.
