Minister for Police Mark Ryan and Central Region Assistant Commissioner Alistair Dawson has officially opened the new Maleny Police Station.

“It was great to be able to open the redevelopment of the Maleny Station that will enhance front line Policing and contribute to the safety of our Sunshine Coast residents.” Minister Ryan said.

“Palaszczuk Government made a commitment to not only ensure we have more Police in Queensland but also that our Police have the resources and infrastructure they need to get on with their job of keeping our communities safe.”

“Opening of the new Maleny Police Station is just one example of our government delivering on this commitment.”

“Maleny Police has consistently delivered a high level of service to the community and it is my hope this new station will further encourage the continuation of this service into the future.” Minister Ryan said.

Assistant Commissioner Dawson said the station located on Macadamia Drive would service areas from Beerwah to Palmwoods and house one sergeant, two senior constables and one constable.

Assistant Commissioner Dawson said the district’s Police were delighted to see a new facility open as the existing Maple Street station was built in 1952.

“Old station served the Sunshine Coast hinterland community very well, however it was purpose built for Policing in the 1950’s. We are more than 60 years on now and, as we well know, Policing and the communities we serve have changed dramatically in that time.” Assistant Commissioner Dawson said.

“This new state-of-the-art station features enhanced facilities for frontline Policing with all the necessary functions to support our current and foreseeable future operations.”

“These refurbishments represent yet another chapter in a long and proud history of the Queensland Police Service in Maleny.” Assistant Commissioner Dawson said.

Maleny Police Station State-of-the-art facility includes:
