Hypocrisy Thy Name Is Weatherill

State Opposition have labelled Premier Weatherill’s belated concerns about the price of food and drinks at the Adelaide Oval as sheer hypocrisy.

“Premier Jay Weatherill has jacked up his ESL (Emergency Services Levy) tax on Adelaide Oval by more than 800 % since he was returned to office in 2014.” Shadow Minister for Cost of Living Corey Wingard said.

“The increase in Premier Jay Weatherill’s ESL tax from just $40,000 in 2014 to $375,000 last year feeds directly into the prices of food and drink at the Adelaide Oval.” Mr. Wingard said.

“The Weatherill Government is also responsible for the surging cost of electricity and the ruinous cost of water in South Australia both of which are driving up the cost of food and drinks at the Adelaide Oval.”

“Rather than suggesting he is going to ‘investigate’ the price of food and drinks at Adelaide Oval Premier Jay Weatherill should immediately re-instate the ESL remission.” Mr. Wingard said.

“Putting $90 Million back into the pockets of all South Australians will deliver immediate cost of living relief to everyone.”

“It is a concrete measure to make going to the cricket more affordable and it’s in the Premier’s power to deliver it today.” Mr. Wingard said.

“Consider that Premier Jay Weatherill also levies a transport tax on tickets sold for major events at the Oval.”

“This fun tax feeds into the price of tickets for major events at the Adelaide Oval.”

“Premier Jay Weatherill is shedding crocodile tears when he pretends to be concerned about the price of food and drinks at the Adelaide Oval.” Mr. Wingard said.
