Northern Wheatbelt Bridges To Be Upgraded

Bridge Maintenance Under Way In Northern Wheatbelt

Transport Minister Simon O’Brien today announced that the State Government had awarded Regional Bridging Pty Ltd a $900,000 Contract to undertake Repair and Refurbishment Works to 24 Timber Bridges across the Northern Wheatbelt.

“The work includes repairing Bridge Substructures and Superstructures, as well as routine and specific maintenance on 22 Bridges, and Constructing Approach Slabs and Upgrading the Off-bridge Guard Rails on Another Two Bridges.” Mr. O’Brien said.

In the Shire of Northam, Bridges over:

  • Mistake Creek – Northam-Toodyay Road;
  • Wongamine Creek – Irishtown Road;
  • Spencers Brook – Trimmer Road;
  • Tink’s Bridge – Northam-Toodyay Road.

In the Shire of Toodyay, Bridges over:

  • Koondinee Creek – Northam-Toodyay Road;
  • Harper Brook – Northam-Toodyay Road;
  • Jimperding Brook – Toodyay Road;
  • Avon River – Goomalling-Toodyay Road;
  • Boyagerring Brook – Goomalling-Toodyay Road;
  • Boyagerring Brook – Goomalling-Toodyay Road;
  • Harper Brook-Lloyds Creek – Toodyay Road;
  • Waters Brook – Toodyay-Bindi Bindi Road;
  • Nambling Brook – Toodyay-Bindi Bindi Road;
  • Avon River – Julimar Road;
  • Boyagerring Brook – Woodendale Road;
  • Toodyay Brook – Wattening Road.

In the Shire of Goomalling, Bridges over:

  • Wongamine Creek – Goomalling-Toodyay Road;
  • Mortlock River – Goomalling-Toodyay Road.

In the Shire of Dandaragan, Bridges over:

  • Caren Caren Brook – Brand Highway;
  • Hill River – Munbinea Road.

In the Shire of Moora, Bridges over:

  • Moore River-Hospital Bridge – Dandaragan Street;
  • Over Yadgena Brook – Midlands Road.

In the Shire of Wongan-Ballidu, Bridges over:

  • Kalguddering Creek – Northam-Pithara Road;
  • Hornsby Creek – Northam-Pithara Road.

“The works will ensure the safety of motorists and increase the lifespan of the Bridges.” the Minister said.

Works are under way and should be completed by March 2011.
