Nominations Open For Certificates Of Appreciation

Natasha Griggs MHR For Solomon

Recognising Our Veterans

Victor P Taffa

Member for Solomon, Natasha Griggs, has called for nominations for Certificates of Appreciation under the Federal Government’s Commemorations Program, Saluting Their Service.

The Program acknowledges the commitment and sacrifice of Australia’s ex-servicemen and women in wars, conflicts and peace-keeping operations.

“There are a great number of ex-service personnel in Solomon and it is important to honour their legacy.” Ms. Griggs said.

“Certificates of Appreciation are available to those who served overseas during the Second World War, in the British Commonwealth Occupation Force in Japan, the Korean War, Malayan Emergency, the Indonesian Confrontation, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War and peace operations.”

“For the first time, veterans of the Iraq War will also receive certificates in recognition of their service.” Ms. Griggs said.

“The certificates are also available to civilians and those who served in the defence forces or on the homefront during the Second World War.”

“Veterans and those who served in the wars, conflicts and peace operations for which certificates are available and family members of deceased eligible persons, are entitled to apply for the certificates.” Ms. Griggs said.
