Nominations are now open for the 2017/18 Tasmanian Young Achiever Awards.

Premier Will Hodgman said the Tasmanian Government is pleased to once again be associated with the Awards which are a way to acknowledge, encourage and most importantly promote the positive achievements of young people in our State.

This year’s theme quite appropriately is ‘be inspired’.

“We are looking for young people whose hard work, commitment and innovation are an inspiration to those around them.” Premier Hodgman said.

Young Achiever Awards will recognise finalists in 7 categories:

  • Arts and Fashion,
  • Community Service and Volunteering,
  • Healthier Communities,
  • Indigenous Achievement,
  • Service to the Disability Sector,
  • Sports,
  • Teaching Excellence.

Category winners will each receive $1,000 and a trophy. Chosen from among the category winners, the Premier’s Young Achiever will receive an additional $2,000.

Young people are the future leaders of our State, and Awards like this allow us to celebrate their successes and encourage them to continue to aim high and pursue their goals.

Entry into the Young Achiever Awards is free and open to all Tasmanians aged up to 29 years as of the 31st of December 2017, with nominations closing on Wednesday 13 December 2017.

“I encourage people to consider nominating a young Tasmanian in their community who inspires them.” Premier Hodgman said.
