Premier Jay Weatherill will today announce a new fashion exhibition celebrating 10 years of high-profile couture label Paolo Sebastian, created by South Australian designer and Young Australian of the Year Paul Vasileff.

“Local brands like Paolo Sebastian are putting South Australia on the fashion map internationally and creating global trade and investment ties.” Premier Jay Weatherill said.

“It is an incredible honour, but also a wonderful chance, not only for me, but for everyone to see how the brand has evolved over these past 10 years.” Paolo Sebastian designer Paul Vasileff said.

Free exhibition, Paolo Sebastian: X, will be presented at the Art Gallery of South Australia in collaboration with the Adelaide Fashion Festival, from October 7 until December 10. It is proudly presented by Yalumba Family Vignerons.

It will feature a selection of gowns from Vasileff’s archives presented alongside historic paintings and sculptures in the Melrose Wing, a ticketed preview and Q&A session with Vasileff and the Gallery’s Director, Nick Mitzevich.

Full Adelaide Fashion Festival program will be officially released on Tuesday, with a stellar line up of runway shows, lunches, masterclasses and other events.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Art Gallery of South Australia to present this unique exhibition, one that we are sure will be loved by the public who have embraced Paolo Sebastian designs for 10 years.” Adelaide Fashion Festival creative director Chris Kontos said.

Adelaide Fashion Festival is presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide and owned and managed by the State Government. It was established by the City of Norwood, Payneham and St. Peters in 2008, with the State Government’s major events arm Events South Australia taking on management of the festival in 2015.

This year’s festival will run for 5 days from October 11. More than 15,000 people attended last year’s festival, including key national and international media, buyers from stores such as David Jones and Myer and television stylists.

Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha hit the runway as a special guest, sharing stories of her South Australian experience with millions of fans across her social media networks.

State Government has provided a major boost to South Australia’s tourism sector with a $14.5 Million injection to the events and conventions bid fund. This is in addition to the $2 Million over 4 years invested in the Adelaide Fashion Festival.
