“We’re providing $200,000 to support the event and to ensure the spotlight is amped up on Launceston and its surrounds.” Premier Hodgman said.

Tasmanian tourism and hospitality businesses are no strangers to these awards having received around 70 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in just the last 5 years, including

  • 33 Gold,
  • 22 Silver,
  • 16 Bronze.

“We reckon this State has the best tourism and hospitality industry in the country and hosting the awards in Launceston will ensure the rest of the country sees why.” Premier Hodgman said.

“Visitor economy is one of our greatest competitive strengths and the government is focussed on ensuring that more Tasmanians benefit by working with industry to take it to the next level.”

“We welcome the opportunity to showcase Launceston and northern Tasmania to the best and brightest in Australia’s tourism industry and will support the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania and the event organisers to ensure that the awards night is a great success.” Premier Hodgman said.
