Western Australia’s emergency services community will honour firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, at today’s (May 7) International Firefighters’ Day commemoration.

Emergency Services Minister Fran Logan said the memorial service was an opportunity for loved ones and the community to pay their respects to fallen firefighters and their families.

“This service is a chance to pay tribute to those brave individuals whose lives were cut short while serving their community.” Minister for Emergency Services Fran Logan said.

Mr. Logan said the event would also recognise the ongoing commitment of serving firefighters.

“There are more than 24,000 dedicated people currently serving in WA’s career and volunteer fire services who put their lives on the line for their communities every day.”
