As part of bringing Department of Health staff together and revitalising the Darwin CBD, a public tender has been issued for the lease of 10,000 sqm of office accommodation in the Darwin CBD.

Minister for Corporate Information Services Lauren Moss said co-locating health staff in the CBD would boost the economy and benefit the community through improved service delivery.

“This is a significant project which will create jobs and stimulate the economy during development as well as helping to revitalise the CBD long-term.” Ms. Moss said.

“Preference will be given to proposals offering a solution in the centre of the Darwin CBD and in close proximity to other agencies and services that health staff interact with.”

“Tender process will apply the Northern Territory Government’s ‘Buy Local’ policy, requiring proponents to demonstrate how their proposal would use Territory enterprises and deliver maximum benefit to the Territory economy.” Ms. Moss said.

“Tender will invite proposals for either a new building or refurbished building in the CBD.”

“Territorians trust us to conduct an open and transparent tender process and that is exactly what we’ve done the process will be open to anyone who would like to submit a proposal.” Ms. Moss said.

Department of Health lease will commence in mid-2021 for a term of 15 years.
