McGowan Government has committed to provide grant funding of $5 Million for an integrated health hub for at-risk youth in the Peel region, fulfilling another election commitment.

“As a Government, we recognise there is a significant need to improve the health and wellbeing of our future generations, especially at-risk youth.” Minister for Health Roger Cook said. Minister for Health Roger Cook said.

“Adequate provision of these services is a key priority for the McGowan Government, and we have identified a shortfall in the availability of these services to youth in the Peel region.”

New Peel Youth Medical Services Health Hub will provide mental health, homelessness, sexual health, counselling, and domestic violence assistance services to young people.

Facility will provide care for young people experiencing depression, anxiety or other health issues.

A grant agreement has been put in place with GP Down South, the preferred proponent, on June 30, 2017.

Funds will be used to progress preliminary designs, site works and construction.

Commonwealth Government and other stakeholders have also provided funding for this project.

Facility is expected to be operational by January 2019.
