The Coalition State Government today announced $400,000 towards the redevelopment of the Marysville Community Golf and Bowls Club to help ensure the popular precinct becomes one of regional Victoria’s key Golfing destinations.

Speaking at the Marysville Golf Club, Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional and Rural Development Peter Ryan said the State Government’s contribution completed a $1.6 Million package of works planned for the golf course.

The Golf Course renewal works, which will begin during the winter period, have been made possible through the State Government ($400,000), the Bushfire Recovery Fund ($600,000), the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority ($200,000) and philanthropic support secured through Andrew Fox ($400,000).

“The Golf Course renewal works, developed through the provision of pro bono design services from Greg Norman Golf Course Design, are an integral part of the re-positioning of the Golf Club to attract new members and additional visitors to the Region.” Mr. Ryan said.

“Plans include remodelling of Holes 14 and 15, development of a new teeing ground on Hole 16 and additional general course works including new bunkers.”

Mr. Ryan said the State Government had also contributed $1 Million from the Living Regions Living Suburbs (LRLS) Program towards a $2.5 Million clubhouse redevelopment that would ensure the local community and visitors to the area could access high quality sporting facilities.

Contributions to the clubhouse redevelopment were also made by the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund ($1.2 Million) and the Russell Crowe, Luc Longley and Coffs Harbour City Council Community Centre Appeal ($300,000).

“Programs such as the LRLS are helping to deliver on the Victorian Government’s commitment to provide our communities with support to grow prosper and build on local economic development.” Mr. Ryan said.

“The $1.6 Million Golf Course renewal works, together with the $2.5 Million Clubhouse Redevelopment, will provide a significant boost to the Marysville economy and ensure visitors have extra reason to spend time in Marysville all year round.” Mr. Ryan said.
