The Liberal National Party (LNP) has welcomed the Anti-Looting Task Force established in response to increased reports of Looting across flood affected areas of Queensland, the State Opposition said today.

The Shadow Minister for Police Glen Elmes said looting in a time of extreme crisis is the most disgraceful and low act.

“It is beyond belief that anyone would steal from those who have lost everything.” Mr. Elmes said.

“Anyone caught looting should expect to feel the full force of the law when caught.”

“Our hardworking Police service is already stretched to the limit and doing a fantastic job responding to flood affected residents. They shouldn’t have to be contending with low-life scum looters.” Mr. Elmes said.

“Anyone who sees looters or has been looted, should inform the Police by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

“I am continuing to re-enforce my previous message to Queenslanders that they should avoid using Triple-000 unless it is life threatening and instead Phone Policelink on 131 444.” Mr. Elmes said.
