Opening Unused Railway Station Buildings To Community And Sporting Groups

Victoria Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu

Victoria Shadow Minister for Public Transport Terry Mulder

Victor P Taffa

The Coalition will increase community utilisation of unused transport assets at Melbourne’s Railway Stations at a Peppercorn Rent so that empty buildings are used for Private Sector, Community Groups or Sporting Groups for community benefit instead of being left to rot.

The Coalition will allocate $5 Million in funding to allow currently vacant buildings on Railway Stations to be occupied by the Private Sector, Community Groups or Sporting Groups at a Peppercorn Rent to enable currently disused stations to become small activity centres.

These groups will be supported by the Coalition’s plan to put two armed, trained, uniformed Victoria Police Protective Services Officers on every Metropolitan Station from 6 pm until last train seven days a week.
