A Victorian Liberal Nationals Coalition Government will rebuild the Public Transport network to fix years of Labor’s neglect and failure, Coalition Leader Ted Baillieu said today.

Speaking at the Coalition’s Campaign Launch in Melbourne, Mr. Baillieu said only the Coalition had a clear plan to make public transport safe, reliable, punctual, comfortable and clean.

“After 11 years of Labor, Premier John Brumby cannot get Victorian families to work and home again on time in safety and comfort.” Mr. Baillieu said.

“The Coalition’s Plan will fix the Problems created by Labor’s Neglect of our Public Transport Network and Build More Trains in Victoria for Melbourne’s Commuters.”

“The Coalition will do what John Brumby has failed to do and implement a clear plan to meet future growth in commuter numbers.” Mr. Baillieu said.

The Coalition’s Plan to Rebuild Victoria’s Public Transport Network Includes:

• A New Independent Public Transport Authority – The Victorian Public Transport Development Authority – to Integrate Labor’s Multiple Public Transport Agencies and Authorities;

• $900 Million for Rail Asset Renewal and Maintenance, including a New $100 Million Maintaining our Rail Network Fund administered by the Victorian Public Transport Development Authority, to increase maintenance on Tracks, Points, Ballast and other Rail Network Basics;

• Two New Railway Stations – at Southland on the Frankston Line ($13 Million) and Grovedale in Geelong ($25 Million);

• Opening Vacant Buildings on Railway Stations for Local Community and Sporting Groups at Minimal Rent ($5 Million);

• Planning for the Return of Passenger Rail between Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo on a Cross-Country Route via Meredith, Maryborough and Castlemaine;

• 40 New Trains for the Melbourne Suburban Network.

The Liberal Campaign Launch by Victoria Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu was invigorating, fresh, with new ideas against a Stale, Tired, Incompetent Government that is led by a Premier who is personally a nice person but Politically Speaking a complete failure as the Leader of a Government.

Editor Victor P Taffa is in Melbourne to cover the 27 November 2010 Victoria State Election and has never seen Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu Speak in Person before the Campaign Launch. Having been involved in Politics since 1982 that includes contesting 3 Public Elections one is able to have some feel for what type of Leader a Person is by what he/she says.

The Performance of Victoria Premier John Brumby in relation to the Bushfires borders on the scandalous. Politically speaking Premier Brumby is inept and leads an Incompetent Government.

The old saying in Politics that ‘Oppositions don’t win elections, Government’s lose them’ is no different to this Election.

Victoria Labor and the Brumby Government DO NOT deserve to win the 27 November 2010 Election.
