Laminex, Australia’s leading producer of decorative surfaces like kitchen bench tops, will invest $3 Million to maintain and grow its manufacturing presence in Ballarat with support from the Andrews Government.

Visiting the company’s existing facility in Wendouree, Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford met with representatives from Laminex to announce the State Government’s support from the Regional Jobs Fund.

“This is a great example of how the Regional Jobs Fund is helping manufacturers invest in projects that increase their competitiveness, leading to business growth and new jobs.” Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford said.

“This is great news for existing and future employees, and the many contractors and small businesses in the city that support Laminex.”

Ballarat manufacturing facility is 1 of 4 nationwide and employs more than 130 people. The new investment will help secure the future of Laminex in Ballarat, creating 7 additional jobs and boosting the company’s competitiveness with new plant and equipment.

“Laminex has been operating in Ballarat since 1970, and this investment will help secure its presence in Ballarat for the foreseeable future.” Member for Wendouree Sharon Knight said.

Project allows Laminex to use advanced reactive hot melt technology that will expand the range of high end products manufactured in Ballarat.

Project will generate around $1 Million in local contracts and will also create construction and supply chain jobs, as well as replacing imports.

Victoria is the nation’s home of manufacturing a $26 Billion industry that supports jobs, exports and economic growth. The sector employs more than 283,000 Victorians across 13,000 businesses.

Ballarat businesses account for a third of total manufacturing output in regional Victoria or $3.3 Billion annually.

“This is yet another boost and vote of confidence for doing business right here in Ballarat. Yet again it’s the Andrews Government that is delivering for our regions.” Member for Buninyong Geoff Howard said.

Right across the state, the Andrews Government is investing in initiatives that make regional Victoria a better place to live, work and do business.
