Northern Territory (NT) Heritage Grants Announced

Victor P Taffa

More than $200,000 will be spent preserving 15 Territory heritage places in the latest round of the NT Government’s Heritage Grants Program.

Tourism and Culture Minister Lauren Moss said the annual Grants Program supported local communities to preserve, research or record sites of significance, and also generated jobs in the Northern Territory.

“A total of 15 projects totalling $221,427 have been approved through the annual NT Heritage Grants Program, which funds and supports conservation work to privately owned heritage places in the Territory.” Ms. Moss said.

“The Program funds projects where important conservation work is required for buildings and other structures, Aboriginal archaeological sites, places of social significance and natural significance including flora, fauna and geological sites.”

“Projects involving research and documentation, and promotional projects are also considered under this important heritage program.”

“The funds also provide additional employment opportunities for contractors carrying out upgrades or restoration works.” Ms. Moss said.
