New NT EPA Member Announced

Minister for Environment and Natural Resources Lauren Moss today announced Mr. Joe Woodward’s appointment to the NT EPA Board.
Mr. Woodward brings a wealth of knowledge, qualifications and experience to the role, including over 30 years’ managing and advising on environmental regulation and approvals in New South Wales (NSW).
“Territorians trust the Territory Labor Government to protect our environment and Mr. Woodward is an exceptional candidate who will bring a high degree of regulatory and technical expertise to the NT EPA that will complement and deepen the calibre of the NT EPA Board.” Minister Moss said.
“His experience and achievements in leading significant reform and enhancing relationships with stakeholders will be invaluable as the Territory embarks on a major environmental regulatory reform agenda.”
“We know that good environment policy is good economic policy our framework will ensure we are protecting, preserving and nurturing the environment while allowing responsible development to proceed with certainty, delivering jobs and economic growth to Territorians.”
Mr Woodward said he looked forward to the work ahead.
“I am very excited to accept this opportunity to work with the other board members as well as business and the broader community to help protect and improve the environment in the Territory.” Mr. Woodward said.
“During my career I have lived and worked in the Territory, I still have a huge affection for the NT.”
“I am fortunate to have had very broad experience in most aspects of environmental protection across air, water, waste, chemicals, radiation, contaminated land, noise and biodiversity including threatened species and also Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Protection. Hopefully this experience will be helpful to the Government and people of the Territory.”
Minister Moss said the Territory Government was establishing a more robust environmental reform framework with clearer and more transparent environmental policies and guidelines to better protect the environment and provide greater certainty for proponents of new developments.
“I look forward to working with Mr. Woodward and other members of the EPA board on building a strong and transparent environmental assessment and regulation framework for the Territory.” Minister Moss said.
Mr. Woodward was chosen following an open Expression of Interest process.
