ABS (Australian Bureau Of Statistics) figures released today show that Tasmania has seen a third consecutive month of jobs growth, with more than 100 jobs created in October, Treasurer Peter Gutwein said.

“2,500 jobs have been created in Tasmania since the election of the Hodgman Government.” Treasurer Gutwein said.

“This is great news, and we will continue to implement our plan to build upon this positive momentum to create more jobs for Tasmanians.”

“Our economy is growing at the fastest rate in 6 years, business confidence is up, retail trade continues to break records, our exports are highly sought after, and our award winning tourism and hospitality sectors are booming.” Treasurer Gutwein said.

“While we are heading in the right direction, there is still more work to be done. That is why we have made targeted investments to create jobs and stimulate the economy. This includes our recent commitment of $100 Million in our Northern Economic Stimulus Package.”

“We are focused on what’s important to Tasmanians creating jobs, growing the economy and supporting frontline services like health and education.” Treasurer Gutwein said.
