The Liberal National Party today challenged Bligh and Labor to release all material related to their claim they ‘shopped around’ for flood insurance in 2004.

Deputy Opposition Leader and Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, Lawrence Springborg asked Finance Minister Rachel Nolan to publicly release all tender documents or expressions of interest along with any analysis Labor claimed it undertook for flood insurance in 2004.

“Queensland has come to expect this shifty Labor Government to be less than truthful or open when it comes to its economic management.” Mr. Springborg said.

“Two weeks ago we had the charade of Treasurer Andrew Fraser and Rachel Nolan going through the motions on natural disaster reinsurance to help their Labor mates in Canberra while Premier Anna Bligh was simultaneously claiming disaster reinsurance was ‘not cost effective in a state as big as Queensland’.

“Queenslanders know they cannot trust this Government to be truthful just as they cannot trust it to properly manage the economy.” Mr. Springborg said.

“Finance Minister Nolan is still being evasive about what she is doing about disaster reinsurance because she is claiming negotiations are ‘commercial in confidence’.”

“The advice and quotes they claimed to have received in 2004 would no longer fall into that category so Minister Nolan should release all documents and advice she claimed Labor received then to prove to Queensland that this Government actually did what is said it did.” Mr. Springborg said.

“Or is she going to keep it hidden from Queenslanders just as this Bligh Labor Government hides everything else?” Mr. Springborg asked.
