  • Made possible by Liberal National Government’s Royalties for Regions program

Regional Development Minister Terry Redman today announced the successful grant recipients of the Gascoyne region’s Community Chest Fund, made possible by the Liberal National Government’s Royalties for Regions program.

Mr. Redman said the Community Chest Fund provided one-off grants to community, public and not-for-profit organisations to improve and develop infrastructure and services in the region.

“The Community Chest Fund provides voluntary organisations, educational institutions and community organisations with grants of up to $50,000 to support local projects.” Mr. Redman said.

“Included in this round of funding is $50,000 to Nagle Catholic College to fund Stage 2 of the Carnarvon Campus to accommodate Year 12 students in 2017, and $25,000 to Exmouth Men’s Shed to fund new fencing, a shaded work area and planning for further development.”

“The Gascoyne Football Association have been granted $20,670 to construct a ticket booth and spectator seating to improve the club’s capacity; and the Shark Bay Community Resource Centre will receive $24,000 towards ‘Navigating the West’, a large-scale mapping projection spectacle that will feature during the Dirk Hartog Voyage of Discovery festival.”

The fund supports region-specific priorities that are driven by local communities to assist the development of infrastructure, services and community projects that help build vibrant regions with strong economies.

“These projects will help to attract investment, increase job opportunities and improve the quality of life for communities in the Gascoyne region.” Mr. Redman said.

“Hundreds of diverse projects and organisations across regional Western Australia have significantly benefited from the Community Chest Fund in recent years.”

Western Australia’s nine regional development commissions oversee the projects, each being allocated an equal share from which to provide the Community Chest Fund grants.

The Liberal National Government, through the Royalties for Regions program, has invested $10 Million into the Community Chest Fund over the next four years.
