Race-goers are being urged to make safe transport choices when organising their Melbourne Cup celebrations this year, and to take advantage of free public transport to and from Morphettville racecourse.

“Whether you’re heading to Morphettville, joining friends for lunch in front of the big screen, or enjoying a few drinks with colleagues in the office, the message is the same, plan your transport ahead of time and don’t drink and drive.” Minister for Road Safety Peter Malinauskas said.

If taking a punt on Cup day, South Australians are being reminded to do it on the track and not on the road.

“If you’re going to drink this Melbourne Cup day, just don’t drive. Don’t make the mistake of being a little bit over.” MAC Community Engagement Manager Matt Hanton said.

The Motor Accident Commission (MAC) is providing free public transport to and from Morphettville on Tuesday 1 November, for all South Australian Jockey Club (SAJC) members and pre-purchased ticket holders.
