Regional Development Minister Terry Redman today officially opened the $1.52 Million Esperance Skate Park, providing a unique, multipurpose and multi-generational public space for locals and visitors.

Catering to skaters of all ages and skill levels through its practical design, the park is expected to become a social hub for youth and the wider Esperance community.

Mr. Redman said the Liberal National Government’s Royalties for Regions program contributed $664,987 towards the latest addition to the Esperance Waterfront, which complements the existing waterfront recreational precincts within Esperance and enhances the town as a tourist destination.

Lotterywest contributed a further $415,000 and Tourism Western Australia also contributed to the skate park, as part of a $225,000 Tourism Demand Driver Infrastructure grant to develop the foreshore promenade and install new cruise ship landing infrastructure.

“In consultation with the local community, the Shire of Esperance has created a practical and well-designed skate space that will provide an important meeting place in the heart of the community for young people in Esperance.” Mr. Redman said.

“This addition is the latest in a range of significant Royalties for Regions projects for Esperance, which have had wide-reaching benefits for the Esperance community and surrounding areas.”
