Voting Options For Broadmeadows Electors

Enrolling and voting on the spot for the Broadmeadows District by-election will be an option for eligible electors who missed the close of roll late last month, according to Electoral Commissioner, Steve Tully.


“Australian citizens aged 18 or over, who haven’t been on the roll previously, can enrol and cast a provisional vote for the Broadmeadows District by-election upon presentation of approved identification at early and Election Day Voting Centres.”  Mr. Tully said.

Proof of Identification Can Take The Form Of:

  • A driver licence or learner permit;
  • A council rates notice in the elector’s name; or
  • An electricity bill in the elector’s name for their current address.

Voting Centres will be open from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm on Election Day, Saturday, 19 February.

Mr. Tully says that early voting for the By-Election has commenced for those electors unable to attend a voting centre on Election Day.

Early voting is available at both the election office located at Level 9, 505 Little Collins Street, Melbourne and the Gateway Business Park, Office C1, 1-13 The Gateway, Broadmeadows.

Early Voting Hours Are:

  • Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 6.00 pm
  • Saturday, 12 February 9.00 am to 2.00 pm
  • Thursday, 17 February 8.30 am to 8.00 pm

“Another option for those simply unable to attend a voting centre at all is postal voting.” Mr. Tully said.

Postal vote applications are available online at vec.vic.gov.au , can be collected from any post office in the Broadmeadows District or can be mailed to electors who call 1300 551 575 to request them. Electors should ensure their completed ballot papers are postmarked on or before 6.00 pm on Election Day.

Alternatively, they may be handed in at any Election Day Voting Centre in Broadmeadows District.

Voting Is Compulsory.
