David Barclay Appointed As President Of Tasmanian Industrial Commission

Treasurer Peter Gutwein is pleased to announce that Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner, AM, Governor of Tasmania has appointed Mr. David Barclay as President of the Tasmanian Industrial Commission.

Mr. Barclay was admitted to practise as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 1987 and has since had extensive litigation experience, particularly in industrial relations.

For nearly 30 years Mr. Barclay has provided expert advice on many issues affecting workers and employees, including long service legislation, Fair Work matters, unfair termination, and award and agreement construction.

“I would like to welcome Mr. Barclay to his new role at the Commission.”

“I also want to acknowledge and thank retired President Mr. Tim Abey for his dedicated service in the role over many years.” Treasurer Gutwein said.
