Woolmers Estate is a unique and remarkable cultural heritage asset as well as being a significant tourism attraction for Northern Tasmania.

Minister for Environment Parks and Heritage Matthew Groom attended the unveiling of the foundation stone at Woolmers today, along with the Premier, which officially marks the commencement of the construction of the Woolmers Visitor Centre.

The Government provided $1.75 Million over four years to enable this important development, and the finished visitor centre will provide a world-class, multi-purpose venue that will be the new gateway and entrance to the visitor experience on offer at Woolmers Estate.

The construction phase will also generate local jobs and support the economy in the region, in line with our Buy Local policy.

“Our investment in this centre recognises both the tourism benefits that Woolmers’ offers, and the importance of helping the heritage and tourism sectors work together to promote year-round visitation experiences that benefit the state.”

“We are committed to protecting and celebrating our world-class cultural heritage assets, and I look forward to coming back in a few months to celebrate the official opening of the visitor centre.” Mr. Groom said.
