Constitution Road And Morrison Road Rat Run

Constitution Road And Morrison Road Rat Run

Rat Run Used To Avoid Victoria Road Traffic Congestion

Victor P Taffa

Currently Constitution Road and Morrison Road are used as a ‘Rat Run’ to avoid Victoria Road traffic congestion.

Large part of the problem with the Constitution Road and Morrison Road ‘Rat Run’ for traffic through Ryde and Lane Cove Electorates in morning and afternoon peak hours is the narrow road overpass at Meadowbank Railway Station.

Traffic Lights are not the answer at Meadowbank Railway Station without a wider overpass as pedestrian access at the road overpass is currently inadequate.

Wider road overpass at Meadowbank Railway Station allows for a better designed western approach.

Better designed western approach will also provide for a footpath. Many years ago the footpath on the road overpass was removed and that has been a bandaid solution to avoid widening the overpass and installing adequate footpaths.

Traffic Lights at Morrison Road/Church Street are also a problem so to just install Traffic Lights without a wider road overpass will not solve the problems.

As more Units are constructed the problem at Meadowbank Railway Station road overpass becomes exacerbated.

Western Approach To Overpass That Lacks A Footpath

Road Overpass Only Metres Away From Underdale Lane

Wider road overpass aligned with Underdale Lane will not bank traffic up in both morning and afternoon peak periods.

Wider road overpass that also has lifts to 4 operating platforms at Meadowbank Railway Station is needed by commuters.

People needs a solution and not a continuation of the problem and a wider road overpass at Meadowbank Railway Station that is aligned with Underdale Lane allows for better traffic flow through Ryde and Lane Cove State Electorates achieves just that.
