Chief Minister Michael Gunner has described today’s Closing the Gap report as “disappointing” and demonstrating “failure” across the country.

Chief Minister Gunner says that after 10-years, the gap is not closing on the majority of issues of importance to Aboriginal Territorians.

“Only 1 of the 7 categories is on track in the Territory. That’s not good enough.” Chief Minister Gunner said.

“We have to completely overhaul this work, refresh it and then focus on delivering that’s what’s happening at the moment including the special gathering of Aboriginal people in Canberra last week.”

“I am backing calls from Aboriginal people across the Territory and the country for a stronger voice in establishing and then monitoring the next 10-years.” Chief Minister Gunner said.
