Building approvals have surged since the election and are helping to create jobs, support investment and grow the economy, Treasurer Peter Gutwein said.

“The number of dwelling units approved in the eight months since the election is 23 % higher than the eight months leading up to the election.”

“In November alone, dwelling unit approvals were up 3 % and the value of residential building approvals increased by 25 % compared with the previous year.” Mr. Gutwein said.

The Government is supporting the building and construction sector through our First Home Builder Boost and by fixing the planning system.  Our plan is all about driving investment and development because it creates jobs and will make the economy stronger.

“These figures are the latest in a string of positive indicators.  Retail trade is at record highs, business confidence are through the roof and more than 6,000 jobs have been created since March last year.” Mr. Gutwein said.
